Measles vaccinations recommended

In January 2019, WHO declared a lack of vaccine protection against measles as a threat to global health. A review and, if necessary, supplementation of the vaccination against measles for adults and children is therefore strongly recommended at the latest in the travel preparation.

Yellow fever vaccinations only for certain areas

While no proof of yellow fever vaccination is required for direct entry from Europe or the US, vaccination is strongly recommended for all travelers before traveling to Panama in an area where yellow fever occurs. This includes u.a. the entire eastern half of the country.

Attention when entering from a neighboring country!

A valid yellow fever vaccination is required for all travelers older than 12 months who enter Panama from a yellow fever area or neighboring country.

Zika virus infection

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Panama is classified as having possible transmissibility of Zika viruses, i. Category 1 or 2 of the current WHO classification, even if no new cases are currently documented. The transfer risk can vary considerably both regionally and seasonally.
